Request to Sports Equipment - Africa Youth Ministries Uganda

January 2007 - On behalf of Africa Youth Ministries Uganda, I am writing this mail to request for netball items i.e. uniforms, balls, sports canvas, netball rings (used items are also accepted), and funds to fabricate metalic goal poles that can withstand rotting & termites. Requested netball items will be used in our Global Youth AIDS Day Netball Tournament Scheduled for 26th Feb 2007 & and our sports program targeting the most under privileged out of school young people and AIDS Orphans. At the beginning of this year 2006, we started a sports project targeting out of school young people, objectively to use sports as an entry point or vehicle to make them aware of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and how they could avoid getting infected. Similarly, we also intended to meet the emotional needs of such young people who have been traumatized by the loss of their parents because of AIDS & War. This program has proved so successful, and we have eventually discovered through sports we can go far, e.g. when we meet for sports, we have been able to identify other needs of these young people and we’re now training them in entrepreneurial skills such as making of handcrafts for income generating. For details you can visit our sports page at www.aymu.org/kick or www.aymu.org/wad.html

Africa Youth Ministries Uganda, is a Child and Youth focused Non Profit making Organisation formed in 2003, registered in Uganda first as a CBO in 2004 (cert no' 2386) & as an Ngo 2006 (reg' Cert no' 6068). Our over all goal is to implement projects/programs addressing problems affecting young people.

Your partnership in material, technical & financial support will be of great value and will make this program a success and more meaningful. For your financial donation we can buy a few items on our local market. We need sports Volunteers to conduct Netball training clinics for our young people here in preparation of various tournaments. We believe being out of school and an AIDS Orphan does not deprive someone of their natural abilities or talents. For those willing to volunteer in sports clinics can visit our volunteers page and fill in our online application form at www.aymu.org/Volunteer.htm

Lastly, we will be most grateful if you will help us identify donors such as Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, Foundations, Sports non profits that can help us set up a few community NetBall pitches. We will be most grateful if your organisation will equally consider donating to us Netball Coaching Books, Videos & DVD's to build and strengthen the skills of our local coaches/trainers.

We will be most grateful for your positive feedback.

Yours,

Albert Kunihira
