| Seminar to Celebrate
“International Year of Sport & Physical Education 2005”
Prof. Dr. Akhlaq Ahmed. Pro-Vice Chancellor, (University of Karachi)
was The Chief Guest of closing ceremony of the 02 days Seminar on
International Year of Sport and Physical Education-2005 held at
Govt. College of Physical Education, University Road Karachi, on
9th December 2005.
He addressed the delegates of the Seminar and said that the celebration
of the International year of Sport & Physical Education-2005
is symbol of our participation in the Universal community.
He was of the view that awareness of Sports & Physical Education
is one of the most important factors for the development of human
& resource World. He further stated that he would provide all
the necessary help and support as a pro-vice Chancellor of the University
to the College of Physical Education for the promotion of quality
Education.
He pointed out that better Sport and health education facilities
will be improve in the Pakistan. He also emphasized both the institution
should develop working relationship and share the expertise.
In the end he distributed Souvenirs of the Seminar to the Guests,
Speakers and Delegates of the Seminar.
Prof. Muhammad Rais Alvi, Executive District Officer (Higher Education)
who was the Chairmen of Seminar Committee welcomed to the Chief
Guest on his arrival in the Seminar. He also addressed the audience
Distinguished guest, Prof. Dr. Fatima Razi Ex-Dean Faculty of Education
University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Naimuddin Qureshi, Ex-Chairmen
Deptt of Information & Library Science University of Karachi
also attended the function, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sultan, Principal, Public
School & Collage Sir Syed Town (City District Govt. Karachi).
He pointed out that this Seminar is only celebrating event throughout
the country in connection with International Year of Sport &
Physical Education 2005 (Declared by the UNO) is being organized
by Pakistan Association for Women Sport held at Govt College of
Physical Education.
He also thanked Council of Physical Education & Sports Sciences
for extended their collaboration to hold this seminar.
On opening session held on 8th December 2005 Mrs. Rizwana Arshad
President Pakistan Association for Women Sport and co-chairperson
of the Seminar promised that the association will continue to organize
Seminars, Workshop and Conferences on Sport and Physical Education
in the country. In 2006 an International Conference shall be organize
by the Association on “IMPACT OF SPORT AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION
ON WOMEN AND OTHERS TOPICS” in Pakistan and delegates form
all over the country shall be invited.
She thanked Women Sport International (U.S.A) to support and help
us to the organized this Seminar and also thanked International
Working Group for Women & Sport (IWG) for extended their collaboration
to hold this Seminar.
Principal Govt. College of Physical Education Mr. Abdul Karim
Mughal in his inaugural addressed give detail of the program. On
the closing session a lecture on “Development of Physical
Education in Pakistan “ was delivered by him he pointed out
the importance of modern and scientific facilities for the development
of this subject, in Educational Institutions is top priority of
the time. Prominent Sport Personalities & Physical Educationist
was also present in the Lecture.
Porf. Dr. Fatima Razi commented that since 1947 at the start of
Education Development in the country, Physical Education was also
included in the curriculum of Education system. In new millennium,
we can’t produce quality Education in the field of Physical
Education & Sports without the scientific & current theories
& Ideas of the Physical Education in the present time. The Seminar
is providing this opportunity to understand present needs for better
future in the field of Physical Education.
