Japan Society of Sport and Gender Studies

We concluded the Fifth Anniversary Conference held in July, 2006 in Kyoto successfully with Dr. Ann Hall, Program Co-Chair of IAPESGW Congress 2005 (Edmonton, Alberta) and Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, University of Alberta, as the keynote speaker.

The Sixth Conference will be held on 7 and 8 in July 2007 at Ichigaya campus in Hosei University, Tokyo. The theme of this conference is "Gender and Understanding of Sex Difference in the Research of Physical Education and Sport Science". The program includes 1) Keynote lecture by Prof. Takako Iida, president of JSSGS, 2) Symposium of the same theme of this conference and group discussions, coordinated by Prof. Keiko Itani, 3) Report of IOC statement on “Sexual harassment and abuse in sport” by Assoc. Prof. Kimie Kumayasu, 4) Present papers on sport and gender studies, and 5) Workshops A “Think about ‘Gender Free’ in sport” and Workshop B “’Sport and Gender’ for beginners”.

Journal of Sport and Gender Studies VOL.5 March 2007 has been published, including original articles, research notes, Report of the Fifth Anniversary Conference and Book review etc..
